L. Douglas Waldorf as a Musician
 
L. Douglas Waldorf had been a musician all his adult life. Born into a very musical family, L. Douglas Waldorf learned to play the bass and drums in the Elizabeth City High Band at Elizabeth City High School in his home town of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. 
 
A professional musician for most of his life, L. Douglas Waldorf performed in USO shows from 1944 to 1946 and spent many years as a radio and television announcer.
 
 
L. Douglas Waldorf in the United States Coast Guard Band's Victory Armada at the U. S. O. Auditorium at 9th and Granby Streets in Norfolk, Virginia featuring such stars as Tom Waring, Marion McManus, Jack Dempsey, Jane Wilson, Patsy Garrett, Francis X. Sullivan, Walter W. Stimson, Hellen Presley, John Scott Stamford and Charlotte Armstrong. This "Victory Armada" was presented by the Norfolk Victory Loan Committee. The purchase of a new Victory Bond provided a free ticket to see this sparkling Variety Show at the Auditorium on a Monday night.
 
L. Douglas Waldorf plays guitar with "The Cavaliers".
 
L. Douglas Waldorf organized and served several years as the conductor of the Virginia Beach Concert orchestra and chorus.
 
 
L. Douglas Waldorf could still "plunk" the bass while enjoying time with his children and grandchildren.
