Newlyweds L. Douglas Waldorf and Olive Jean Owens were married 6 December 1945 while Doug was still in the Coast Guard. Their first home was in Baltimore, Maryland until Doug was Honorably Discharged. Doug and Olive Waldorf then returned to Elizabeth City, North Carolina where Doug began his career in Broadcasting, taking the name of "Wally Douglas".
